Afternoon Tealight: The Introduction

Afternoon Tealight: The Introduction

Our first blog entry – how exciting! Let’s start with a re-intro of myself. My name is Rachel Bassett and I am the owner, the maker, the everything, for Rustic Rays Candle Co. It’s a one-woman show over here, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Well, except for my busy season, but we’ll leave that for another entry.

Ever since I was younger, I loved writing, and I still do! I wanted be an author and write a book (or books) that would hopefully end up on the New York Times Best Sellers list. Don’t get me wrong, that’s still possible, but I have other things taking the fore front of my life… cough cough Rustic Rays Candle Co., and just “life” things.

With that being said, I wanted to create something where I had an outlet to write, but also somewhere to post it, where it could be read publicly. Hence where this blog, Afternoon Tealight, started to take shape. I absolutely love the name! I knew I wanted it to be related to candles, but also sort of a fun name, too. Going off of “afternoon delight,” I decided on Afternoon Tealight. A little space where you could come to read some of my entries, whether it be in the afternoon or not, the name just fit what I was after.

I’ve been thinking about this blog for months now. I don’t want it to become a place where I feel like I have to write entries. I want to write freely, about what’s on my mind, things you all might be interested in, etc. and not have to post entries on a schedule and think of content just to fill a blog entry. That’s not why I want to write. I want to write because I miss it. And this is the best of both worlds for me right now.

So, what you can expect from this blog is for it to be sort of random. You will read things about candles, the business, personal life/get to know me things, and basically whatever I feel like fits into the blog at that time. Like I said, this is a creative space, without a schedule! I will post updates on my social media accounts when I have a new blog post, so you won’t miss anything, and, of course, you can always find my blog on my website. Check it out when you want! Or don’t! Ha!

Well, there you have it. The first entry in Afternoon Tealight is simple, sweet, and “complete.” See what I did there :)

Until the next one,
